Robert's Bio
"Hot Stuff" is it the song from the Black & Blue album or
the ballerina from the American Ballet?
As a youngster, Chicago-born artist Robert Scott Rashkow often escaped into his own private magical world through drawing.
Later that world was broadened by exposure to time tested masters exhibited at Chicago's Art Institute, as well as avant-garde trailblazers like Ed Paschke from the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Illinois State Art professor Ray George taught the use of strong compositional elements and content in picture making.
He apprenticed at innovative atelier Landfall Press, publisher of original fine art lithographs, working under founder/master printer Jack Lemon.
An eye' opening experience producing limited-edition prints for world renowned artists such as Alan Jones, Claes Oldenburg, Alfred Leslie and Phillip Pearlstein.
Robert also worked in Chicago's fast pace commercial printing and graphic arts industry.
As a contemporary fine artist, Rashkow developed a unique style that blends realism with ambiguity and a touch of fancy. His artwork employs a variety of mixed media: acrylics on canvas, oil pastels, colored pencil and graphite on various substrates.
Rashkow's works have earned a place in juried exhibitions, private collections and galleries.
Although the outcome of his work is essential, problem solving and the act of discovery is of primary importance.
"You explore concepts and things that interest you, but you are also exploring inside of yourself"
-Edward Paschke
